For anyone who loves to challenge themselves and wants to dive into the business world, DECA is the right club for you. DECA has grown to new standards each year at Nashoba. This year, DECA is taking on a new look and template of the categories, it may be good to know whether you are a new member or veteran!
Getting ahead of the game, Nashoba DECA advisors Mr. Andreopoulos and Ms. Norton have fully introduced the new category outline to their students. Beginning next week, DECA will begin in full force. It is best to understand the new format to create a great project.
For anyone new, DECA is a collaborative business club open to any current or former students in business classes. The 200+ active members of Nashoba choose a topic, create a project, and rise up to the business challenge to present in front of judges. Topics include a wide range of business: marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, management, accounting, and economics.
As Nashoba DECA has progressed in the rankings dominating each year, the club is ready to fulfill new goals. This year, DECA topics have expanded. In the past DECA members had the option to do a role play, 10-page paper, or 20-page paper with the topics given. This year however, 10-page papers have been upgraded to a 20-page slideshow format. Aside from this big change, there are still many topics to choose from under role plays and 20-page papers. A max of 2-3 members for group projects or solo projects are all still accepted.
This new look is exciting and will hopefully help Nashoba progress in the DECA event rankings. The first competition this year is at Nichols College, making this Nashoba’s second time competing in a new district. From there, if students qualify, they will attend states in the Seaport later in the school year. Winners will fly to Atlanta, Georgia this year for nationals.
Talking with Mr. A and Ms. Norton, they are both eager to get a “jump start and have another successful year” for Nashoba DECA. Each year is filled with new goals and challenges; Nashoba DECA is always ready to bring on the competition!
