Nashoba DECA Competition
The weekend of March 11th was busy and challenging for the growing Nashoba DECA club. Nearly one hundred students traveled to the Marriott Copley Hotel in Boston for the three day state competition with the prospect of the national competition in their sights and posters in hand.
This year, competition was tougher than ever, and there were only a select few finalists. However, there were other strong accomplishments this year that will benefit the club in the future.
The growing size of the club is making Nashoba quite a presence. For example, this was the first year that Nashoba sent a group to compete in the Quiz Bowl competition, and the group placed in the top eight out of forty three teams.
There has also been growing participation in the role play category that continued into this year. Although Mr. Andreopoulos had high hopes to bring the most finalists to Nationals this year that didn’t pan out, there was still a strong, spirited Nashoba attendance.
In all, there were 11 groups and 5 individuals that finished in the top ten in their category. Two individuals and one group placed in the top four in their category, and will be competing at Anaheim in the 2017 ICDC competition: Krista Flinkstrom, Catherine Pelletier, Keagan Castles, Theresa Don, and Margaret Hagopian.
Good luck at Nationals girls!
