Kicking Off the Start of the DECA Year With MASS DECA Virtual Week
Nashoba DECA is kicking off the start of this DECA year by attending the Massachusetts DECA Virtual Week Conference. Typically this conference would be a day long conference at the Westford Regency, but for obvious reasons this conference had to go virtual. The virtual conference took place October 19th through the 23rd.
Starting day one was a leadership academy for chapter officers from around the state. Here, chapter officers were introduced to the Massachusetts State Action team, practiced their public speaking skills, and networked with many other chapter officers from different schools in breakout rooms.
The second day of MDVW (Massachusetts DECA Virtual Week), general members from all around the state were able to attend workshops led by state action team 62. These workshops included how to run for state office, charitable partnerships, how to run a mock competition, and public speaking through zoom. To end the day, there was a speed networking event where members were placed in breakout rooms to meet other members from other chapters.
The third day was a pre-recorded day. State Action Team 62 worked to create information and funny videos to help with competition. From writing a paper to creating tips on how to ace your role play, the “How To” videos helped prepare members for competition.
The fourth day was all about pre-recorded tips from alumni members, entrepreneurs, judges, and other business professionals in and around the community. Here students learned about how to apply to colleges, financial planning, and many other business and life skills.
The final day of this week-long event ended with a 20 question kahoot as a live event put together by Team 62. General members had a chance to win Mass DECA merch!
MDVW is the first official conference kicking off the DECA year. There are many more fun conferences to come.
