This past Thursday, February 27th, all the state qualifiers for Nashoba DECA left school early with excitement, smiles, and the hope of successfully making it past states and secure a seat at the DECA National competition in Nashville, Tennessee.

Nashoba DECA had thirty- eight top ten winners, along with nine making it to Nationals. Nashoba was also awarded two automatic spots to Nationals due to its number of participants increasing in the past two years. Also, the first State DECA officer from Nashoba was elected this year! DECA adviser, Mr. A.,  informed the Chieftain Press that “Anand Sharma will be one of only 5 students statewide who will work to recruit new chapters, and plan leadership activities and competitions for students.”  Anand also won a spot to Nashville to compete, placing 3rd in his category.

Many groups fell just one spot behind the national qualifying score. Each category awarded its top ten groups or individuals with trophies if they won a spot to Nationals, or plaques if they placed in the top 10. Nashoba was very successful at this year’s DECA conference, not only for achieving national qualifying scores, and elected state officers, but also for participation and community service accomplishments. Congratulations everyone in Nashoba DECA for your hard work and good luck to everyone competing at Nationals!
