Spring Sports Starting Up
It’s the first week of April, Nashoba! Wednesday, March 20 was the final day of tryouts for baseball, softball, and boys and girls lacrosse. Boys’ and girls’ track practices also began last week. Nashoba’s student-athletes are looking forward to working hard and enjoying a fun season.
Boys’ and girls’ tennis tryouts start this week, along with Unified Track practice.
When asking our student-athletes how the teams are looking this year, they all responded with a positive outlook. Sophomore and 2-year varsity player Abigail Crowell said: “D1 is a step up for us, but with good coaching, we’ll be a threat.” With a new coaching staff, Nashoba’s softball teams are focused on staying “locked in” until June.
Varsity baseball captain, senior Sam Bolinsky, said, “the season is looking great and we have a lot of guys returning as well as new players to help the team win some games.”
Nashoba girls’ lacrosse is kicking its season off with a new coaching staff as well as softball. Sophomore Madalyn Hill of JV girls’ lacrosse said, “The team is looking pretty good so far. I think we’re in pretty good shape!”
As the girls’ track team dives into practice, many student-athletes are choosing their events. Sophomore and future javelin thrower Brittney Yuen is participating in spring track for the first time this year. She said, “My favorite part is being with people that actually support you and want you to get better.” The support of teammates was something mentioned by every athlete.
The boys’ track team has been working on conditioning before focusing on their specific events. Sophomore Harrison Joron advises new players, “listen to the coaches and do the workouts, but don’t stress yourself out over not being able to do something perfectly.” Perfect advice for any sport.
Good luck Nashoba spring sports teams! Hoping for a successful season!
