New Softball Coach Does Not Throw Anyone a Curveball
After many years of being coached by former English teacher Steve Kendall, the Nashoba varsity softball team has a new coach. Current varsity girls’ basketball head coach Tina Seabury has lead the team to playoffs two years in a row. To help Coach Seabury in this upcoming season will be Beth McNamara, Officer Casey Houle, and Taryn Grigas.
When Steve Kendall announced his resignation because he received an athletic director position at Ayer Shirley High School, the team had one question: who will fill his role? “Coach Seabury stood out in the interview process,” said athletic director Tania Rich. “She has high expectations and is very knowledgeable. Her enthusiasm and passion will bring a positive energy to the program.”
In college, Seabury was a three-sport athlete. She played field hockey, basketball, and softball. She was the captain of all three of the sport teams and she was named Female Athlete of the Year in 2007 at Anna Maria college. “I believe that Coach Seabury will bring a sense of structure and unity to the team that will foster ongoing success” senior Jen Andronico says.
Last year the team had a record of 8-15 and a league record of 5-4. “Even though we had a winning record in the league, I believe that there is definitely lots of room for improvement,” Jen Andronico said. The team is very excited for the upcoming season full of new coaches, opportunities, and players. “With this being my last year in the program, I hope to make it the best one yet,” Andronico stated.
