Nashoba’s indoor track team competed at the league championship on Saturday, February 3rd at Fitchburg High School, facing off against Westborough, Groton-Dunstable, Fitchburg, and Marlborough.  Nashoba placed fourth overall and many of the competitors will be heading to the district championship on Saturday, February 10th. The teams performed well and many members set personal records, allowing them to qualify for the state championship.

In throwing and high jump, the Nashoba female athletes dominated the board with shot putters Anna Cressman, Tati Picard and Tess Hunter placing 1st 5th and 6th respectively.  Hunter also tied for 3rd in the high jump, along with senior and team captain, Chloe Dewhurst, placing 1st with a personal best of 5’3”. In addition to the female jumpers, Sophomore, Luke Halbrooks also competed in the high jump and placed second with a jump of 5’8”.

In addition to field events, many runners competed in a variety of events.  Emily Vivanco, Allie Kovacs, Alex Bettez, and Ashley Masse together placed first in the girls 4×800.  Both girls 4×400 and 4×200 teams placed forth at the meet.  In the one mile, Kovacs placed 5th with a time of 6:01, along with Drew Burrows, placing 4th with a time of 5:12.  Team Captain and senior Ashlyn MacLure placed 2nd in the girls 55 meter dash.

Cam Porter, who competed in the 2 mile, got 6th place, running a time of 11:18. Porter, along with Ashley Masse, placed 6th in the 600 meter. Both Ethan Sarafin and Anthony Campbell ran the 300 and placed 2nd and 6th respectively.  Carli Tesini was able to grab 6th place in the 300 with a time of 47 seconds, while Alex Bettez won 1st place in the girls 1000 meter.
