As the Nashoba athletic facilities finally defrost, spring teams are back to action, with tryouts in full swing the week of March 16th. Teams in lacrosse, baseball, softball, track, tennis, boys’ volleyball, and girls’ golf are looking to build on their success into the 2026 season. This spring, there are many opportunities for new faces to make an immediate impact on their respective teams. Underclassmen have the chance to step into big roles, providing depth and variety to line-ups. At the same time, returning varsity players will help establish standards and foster a positive team culture. Coming off a successful past junior year season, getting to the Elite 8 round of playoffs, Boys’ lacrosse co-captain, Zack Hodges, shares, “I’m excited for strong competition and tough games against good opponents.” This mindset reflects the common theme of embracing competition and growth across all of Nashoba Regional Athletics.
Confirming this idea, Girls’ Lacrosse co-captain, Caroline Pinto, says, “I’m excited for the spring sports season because I love competing against great teams in the area and having a lot of fun with my team.” It is clear that across programs, players are driven to have major success and are up to any challenge that their schedules may present.
Teams compete across the Midland-Wachusett league, facing fierce competition, all looking for a spot in the MIAA playoffs. Boys’ tennis co-captain, Alex Dow, states, “I am looking to have a record above .500 and enjoy the time I have left as a Nashoba tennis player with the team.” The balance between drive and appreciation for the sport is commonly shared between seniors, as they look to make their final season with Nashoba as meaningful as possible. With strong leadership demonstrated across all programs, teams are not only focused on wins and losses, but also on crafting a team culture that fosters resilience and teamwork.
From a spectator standpoint, Nashoba senior, Caroline Mattocks, shares, “I am most excited for Nashoba Girls’ softball. I know they have had some program changes, but this year they are going to put on an entertaining season for us.” This excitement represents the strong sense of community that Nashoba Athletics creates. Whether it is a student, faculty member, or family member, teams are backed by incredible support. There is no doubt that there will be numerous exciting moments for fans, as every Nashoba Regional team brings their all to each game.
As the weather warms and energy continues to build going into the regular season, school pride will grow as well. Wearing “Nashoba” across the jersey motivates both players and coaches alike to push each other to the highest level and play for something bigger than themselves.
