Nashoba wrestlers Brevin Cassella, Lucas Cordio, and Duncan Wilgress-Pipe competed in the MIAA All-State tournament at Reading Memorial High School on February 24th and 25th. The tournament took place over a two day period, and all three boys were able to advance into the second day.

Nashoba’s wrestlers all placed in the top 8:

Cordio (2nd place)

Cassella (6th place)

Wilgress-Pipe (7th place)

Last year, Cordio placed first in this tournament. However, Cordio was beaten out in the finals, on February 25th, by Minnechaug’s Ryan Monteiro, who he wrestled against for the All-State title last year as well. Monterio scored in the third period, and was able to keep the lead against Cordio, winning by a small margin of 3-2.

Leading up to the final round, Cordio was able to defeat wrestlers from Lexington, Foxboro, and Westford.

In the end, Nashoba’s team came in 17th with a total of 45.5 points. Head Coach, Pete Connery, expressed that he was delighted with how his team preformed.

All three wrestlers qualified to compete in the New England Wrestling Championship on March 3rd and 4th. Cordio placed at the tournament with an impressive 3rd place finish.

Cordio ended his wrestling season by becoming a NHSCA Wrestling All-American for the second consecutive year.
