Nashoba Boys Soccer Kicks into Full Speed

Fall sports are now in full swing as Nashoba Boys Soccer is off to a great start! On Tuesday, September 22, Nashoba played North Middlesex at home. They won 8-0, a great game for the boys. They have had three games so far and are now 2-0-1. On Tuesday’s game, Junior Garren Laplante scored the first goal for the Chieftains and sophomore Ryan Cudmore followed with the second goal in the first 10 minutes.

Sophomore Tyler Seatter really admires the team this year: “Our key players are our captains, Nolan and Mark, they hold our team together and hold us to a high standard along with Will Cameron [Senior], two key Juniors are Jasper and Garren, they both are very skilled and control the ball well and see the field as they really know how to play.”

Looks like the Juniors will have no trouble keeping up with the high standards that the Seniors leave for them. The boys face Shrewsbury on Saturday, September 26, which will be a tough game for the boys but an imperative one. Their last home game against North Middlesex on September 22 was a concussion awareness game. All the boys wore orange wristbands and fans supported them by wearing orange to the game. This brought more attention to concussion awareness. The girl’s team also participated in concussion awareness on the same day. Hopefully both students and fans became more aware of the dangers of concussions.

Sophomore Matt McNulty says JV1 team is also doing well, “So far we haven’t lost a game yet, and out record is 4-0-0. We are looking forward to continuing our undefeated record from last year on the freshman team. Our season is off to the right start, we just need to keep on improving as we go.” Both JV1 and Varsity boys soccer are in for a successful 2015 season! The teams are off to a great start but what will come towards the end of the season?

Tyler Seatter says, “We’re in the road to playoffs and hopefully we’ll get past the first round since we haven’t done that in a while.” As Varsity is doing better than ever, they will surely make it farther in playoffs and earn another year on the banner.
