With the holiday rush for the LEGO Company over, they can get back to their normal release schedule with new original non-themed sets. In addition to more traditional releases like Star Wars sets, new collaborations with Pokémon, and LEGO Icon, creators are bringing us unique builds and techniques, brick-by-brick.
Starting with the most exciting of the bunch, LEGO created three new sets with Pokémon along with two gifts with purchase. The smallest set, featuring Eevee, consists of 587 pieces and comes in at $59.99. The next set features a similarly fashioned Pikachu leaping from a pokeball with classic blue bolts trailing it. He is positioned on a base plate that also features his pokedex number. The set has 2,050 pieces and will retail for $200.00. The largest Pokémon set, with over 6,838 pieces and costing $649.99, is the Venasaur, Charizard, and Blastoise joint display. The Pokémon are proportionally sized along with the others and are featured on a platform that displays each of their elements: earth, lava, and water. Accompanying these sets are the Kanto Region Badge Collection (312 pieces) and the Mini Pokémon Center (233 pieces), which can be added on for free after you reach a certain dollar amount in your order. The sets will be available on the LEGO Store February 27th.
Several new LEGO Idea sets have been chosen and announced. LEGO Ideas is a program hosted on a website that allows anyone to submit their ideas for LEGO sets they have built with 3D modeling software. Once they are posted on a public forum, they can work towards racking up 10,000 votes from the public. If they reach this milestone, they are then sent to a team at LEGO to be approved for finalization. Then, LEGO will announce the winners and work with the original builder to redesign the set. The first Ideas set to be announced in February was a redesign of the original LEGO Ideas Tuxedo Cat. The new set is the LEGO Ideas Orange Cat, costing $99.99 and 1,755 pieces. As the name suggests, it has orange bricks for its fur with white highlights. Other differences include the tail facing the opposite direction and the fur having a slightly different texture design. The most recent LEGO Ideas set to be announced was the LEGO Floating Sea Otters. Set in a small pond, the set is made up of 1,234 pieces and has an adult otter along with its baby! The set costs $119.99 and can be connected with another of the same set, allowing two otters to hold hands. Both of these sets are available on the LEGO website to ship March 1st.
The final notable sew sets are soccer themed. The first is the LEGO Editions Soccer Ball, one of the first LEGO spheres of its kind while hiding a miniature stadium on the inside. Shipping on March 1st, this set has 1,498 pieces and costs $129.99. Also shipping on March 1st is the LEGO Editions FIFA World Cup Official Trophy, including a soccer player figure and miniature trophy. This set cost slightly more than the ball, at $199.99 but has over 2,842 pieces. While all of these sets are tempting, you may want to save up your LEGO money for later in 2026 if you’re a Godzilla fan!
