Dana-Farber Running Institute has partnered with the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A) to create an exciting opportunity for runners to participate in the Boston Marathon. They create an opportunity to raise critical funds and awareness for cancer research.
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) is one of the world’s leading centers for cancer research and treatment. It is the only cancer research center in the country ranked in the top 5 for both adult and pediatric cancer programs. Dana-Farber is dedicated to a unique and equal balance between cancer research and care, translating the results.
Dana-Farber has created a friendly welcoming community for runners to come together for a greater experience more than just a race. Dana-Farber provides runners a guaranteed race entry, special recognition for top finishers, fundraising tips, and tools, Dana-Farber race singlet, and training apparel. Dana-Farber offers an optional training program designed by 1976 Boston Marathon Mens Open Division Champion, Jack Fultz.
The Dana-Farber marathon challenge started in 1990 with only nineteen runners. As we approach the 2024 Boston Marathon, there are over 500 runners on the Dana-Farber team. Over all the years DFMC has raised over $122 million. This year for the 2024 Boston Marathon they aim to raise over $7.85 million. This year the fundraising commitment for all participants is $10,000 along with a $85 entry fee. These funds all go to benefit the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
I plan on running in the 2024 Boston Marathon for the Dana-Farber Team. Dana-Farber has helped my mom battle cancer. I plan on creating a fundraising page with the goal of $10,000. I’m excited to be a part of this team and can’t wait for Marathon Monday.
