It’s that time of year again when Nashoba students sign up for next year’s classes. While the current Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors have practically mastered the art of this task, and know what they want to take, Eighth graders across the district are entering a world of confusion.

Over the course of a week in early March, several members of Nashoba’s choir went to Florence Sawyer, Luther Burbank and Hale Middle School to try and recruit Eighth graders to join one of the four choirs the high school offers.

The choirs performed songs at the middle schools that will be featured in their upcoming concert on March 28th. Their selections included Lift Thy Eyes, Chili Con Carne and quartet performance of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas from their previous concert.

Senior Hannah Honig was one of the 15 students that visited Florence Sawyer last week. Honig elaborated on what it was like to be able to answer questions, and perform for the middle school students.

“I hope we were able to persuade some middle schoolers to join choir next year. I do wish that we had the high schoolers perform for us when we were in middle school because it would have been nice to learn about some of the music they were singing, and learn about the class in general.”

In addition to seeing the high school choirs perform their music, the middle schoolers were given the opportunity to sing a surprise song with the upperclassmen that they will all be performing together in the next concert.

Mrs. Glenister, who began teaching at Nashoba last year, was excited to see the interest shown by the students at the middle school and believes that the high school will have several strong choirs next year. All Nashoba students are eligible to audition for the choir. If you are interested, contact Mrs. Glenister to step up an audition time.
