This year, Nashoba Drama is taking us back to the past with A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Nashoba’s first Shakespearean play. I sat down with one of the actresses, senior Abigail Wade, to learn more about this year’s production.

“I play Cobweb, she’s one of the fairy servants,” Abbie explained. “I choreographed one of the dance numbers too so that was fun.”Abbie has been participating in musicals since she was in the 8th grade and has danced since she was two, but this is her first play at Nashoba. “I’ve been at Nashoba drama and I’ve been in plays since I was 5,” Abbie said.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of Shakespeare’s classic comedies. It’s about four lovers manipulated by fairies inhabiting a nearby forest. There are currently two sets, one for the Bollywood Forest and one for the English imperial castle. It has many platforms and much of it was constructed by the Drama Dads.

The cast has approximately forty members and the director, Bill Grady, didn’t make any casting cuts. Mr. Grady, a middle school history teacher at Luther Burbank, has been working as the director for the last twenty years.

The show was a hit with fans who enjoyed the change of presentation with the alternative selection of the play. Fans who have been going to Nashoba plays for years enjoyed the new bollywood twist on a favorite classic.
