On the 26th of March, Marvel held a livestream where they revealed the cast of Avengers: Doomsday. This was a shock to MCU fans because it is the first Avengers movie since 2019. This broadcast went on for a jaw-dropping 5 ½ hours.
Here are the MCU cast members who were announced:
Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Danny Ramirez as The Falcon, Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier, David Harbour as The Red Guardian, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell The U.S Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Lewis Pullman as Sentry.
These are just the names that have been released for people who are a part of the MCU. This movie will be breaking ground by being the second movie to have the MCU crossover with members of the X-Men and The Fantastic 4. The first one was Deadpool and Wolverine (2024), which did not include nearly as many X-Men as Avengers.
Many members of the original X-Men movie franchise have been announced to return as their respective characters. Here are the ones that were announced:
Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Patrick Stewert as Charles Xavier, Alan Cumming as NightCrawler, and finally, Kelsey Grammar as Beast. Many of these actors have not portrayed these characters in nearly a decade, making this movie a truly special edition to the MCU.
Cast members from the Fantastic 4 movie that is being released in 2025 have also been announced. Interestingly, these actors have already been announced to be in a second movie, even though their first movie has not come out yet. The actors of The Fantastic Four that have been announced are Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic.
The most important name that was released was Robert Downey Jr. To the surprise of fans, he is not returning as Iron Man, but as the villain of the movie, Dr. Doom. Downey entered the frame at the end of the announcement and sat down in his director’s chair. He did a shushing motion, causing many fans to speculate that this is not the end of casting announcements to come. Downey posted online, saying, “That’s what you call a deep bench of talent…actually it’s more like a row, but an extra long one…that must be it…right?” To this post, Marvel responded mysteriously, saying, “There’s always room for more.” The name on everyone’s tongue is Elizabeth Olsen. Fans are greatly hoping that her character Wanda Maximoff makes a surprise appearance in the movie. This livestream was not only special because of its content, but according to Deadline, this livestream broke the record for the most-watched livestream. It had an incredible 275 million viewers over its 5 ½ hour run.
This movie sounds like it will surely be a worthy installment to the beloved franchise. There will undoubtedly be many more announcements to come. Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on May 1st, 2026.
