Asking someone to homecoming can be very nerve-racking. However, if all goes well, you’ll be glad you asked. Here are some different ways to approach this dance dilemma:
The best way to ask your potential date is to make a sign. You can either have a corny but funny saying or make it heartfelt. When you present your sign to your date at their front door, or at school make sure to bring flowers and maybe candy. Also, make sure that you have a good outfit to make a good impression and so you can look amazing in pictures. Don’t show up in sweatpants but it’s okay to keep it casual.
Some good sayings for your poster might be, “I can’t picture going to hoco with anyone else!”, with pictures of you and your date together on the poster. Another one could be “(their name)…I can’t Reese-ist going to hoco with you!”, with some Reese’s on the poster. The best sayings are corny and funny, but don’t be too cringy. If you make your own saying, try to make it so that you can have something to go with it, either candy or flowers.
The biggest advice I can give you is to absolutely not ask them over text. You can’t see people’s body language or hear their emotions, so you might interpret what they are saying in a different way than what they mean. Also, they can take screenshots of the text and send it to all their friends. The only time you should ask over text is when you’re asking your friends to go with you.
Try to get good pictures, or have your friends take pictures. You’re going to want to remember this moment, whether it’s to look back at good memories or to look back and laugh at the rejection.
Make sure you make your sign within the next few weeks and deliver it by mid-October so that your date has time to plan. , as homecoming is in early November. Good luck!
