Nashoba Drama’s fall play is coming up quickly, and anticipation is building. The Play That Goes Wrong by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields follows the Cornley Drama Society’s performance of A Murder at Haversham Manor, which could not go more terribly. Throughout the duration of the show, the cast cannot catch a break from breaking set pieces, forgotten lines, missed entrances, and more. Everyone in the cast is working very hard to put on the show, and I got a chance to sit down with many of them to discuss the play.

Anna Kifer, who plays Taylor in the Friday and Sunday performances, recalls that her favorite part of rehearsals has been when “both casts are together because there are more people, which always makes it a lot of fun. Since the show is a comedy, it gives us a lot of freedom to enjoy our time and play off of each other.” When The Regional talked to several members of the cast, one common struggle that they all mentioned was the learning of lines. Since this is a difficult show with lots of moving parts, it is understandable that learning the show takes longer than usual.

The Regional got the chance to talk to Avery Cullen, who plays Rachel in all shows. “My favorite thing that I get to do in the show is dying,” she said. “I like to be dramatic and it’s the perfect opportunity to do so.” There are various opportunities for each cast member to shine.   When asked who she would switch roles with in the cast, Landyn Schiering, playing Taylor in the Thursday and Saturday performances, said, “I would switch my role to Perkins, the butler, because it looks like a lot of fun.”

The show dates are November 17-20, and Cast “Poppycock” will perform the 17th and 19th, while Cast “Non-sauce” will perform on the 18th and 20th. The show is at 7 pm on the 17th through the 19th, with a 2 pm matinee on the 20th. The cast list is as follows:

  • Vladimir Maruska & N Chandley as Chris
  • Avery Cullen as Rachel
  • Carter Neuschafer & Peyton Mora Zuffante as Dennis
  • Isabella Paul & Natalie Davis as Sandra
  • Ronan Jewett & Logan Cullen as Max
  • Eleanor Stanton & Dominique Fox as Annie
  • Landyn Schiering & Anna Kifer as Taylor
  • Ryan Irvin & Domenic Kramer as Jonathan

The Play That Goes Wrong is definitely a play you do not want to miss. Natalie Davis, who plays Sandra in the Friday and Sunday performances, says the show is “so funny, and you never know what comes next.” As a fellow cast member, I wholeheartedly believe that this is true and hope to see many of you at the performances!
