The 2020 Grammys

The Grammy’s took place last Sunday night, January 26th at 8:00. Celebrities began to walk down the red carpet at 6:00, with interviews and pictures taking place before artists entered the Staples Center. The night was filled with a memorial to past artists, an inspiring tribute to deceased athlete Kobe Bryant by Alicia Keys and Boys II Men, and amazing performances by Lizzo, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, and more.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, the top three best dressed of the night included Dua Lipa, Host Alicia Keys, and Rosalia, who was nominated for Best New artist. Dua Lipa wore a satin silver skirt with a white top that gave off a super nineties vibe. Alicia Keys had many outfit changes, but her silver one shoulder dress she wore during her piano solo was probably the best of the night, and Rosalia wore a white bodysuit with white chaps around her legs. Billy Porter was close on the list, walking the red carpet with a movable lamp shade around his head, and a glittery blue suit.

The show celebrated women, following the recent news Grammy’s CEO Deborah Dugan’s termination due to her report of sexual harassment. Host of the night, Alicia Keys took this very seriously, giving credit to impressive artists such as Ariana Grande, Lizzo, Billie Eilish, and more. Billie Eilish ended the night historically, winning all four major categories including Record of the Year, Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Vocal Album, along with her brother winning four for his production of her music.

Host Alicia Keys took the beginning moments of the show to express her condolences for the Bryant family along with all the other lives lost in the helicopter crash on Sunday. She was joined by boy band, “Boyz II Men” to sing a touching cover of “It’s Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday.” Both of Bryant’s retired jerseys were lit up under a spotlight for the entirety of the show.
