Nashoba Varsity Cheer Hits the Mat
On Sunday, October 22nd, Nashoba’s Varsity Cheer team traveled to Marlborough to compete in their first competition of the season. This was an invitational competition so teams from all around came to compete from a number of different divisions.
After months of hard work the team put in, they were ready to take to the mat with spirit and a smile. The girls came in second out of seven teams in their division, and second overall, a surprise to them as this was supposed to be a rebuilding year. Between the team’s lacking numbers in the tumbling department and losing eight seniors this past season, this year was supposed to be time to learn new skills and try to work new elements into the Nashoba cheer program.
They started off the season with twelve girls, but after one was cut, the team had to rework the routine to fit the remaining eleven girls. Despite the loss, the cheer team pushed themselves to do their best, and the hard work payed off.
Their next competition is on Sunday, October 29th at Holy Name in Worcester. This is another invitational competition and the girls will hit the mat around 2:30pm. The team would love support from the their fellow peers at this next competition to help them stay spirited.
