Dream Team Moves On To Semi Finals

The boys basketball team have had an exciting season, starting off with a big win against  Saint Johns in their first game. That provided an early boost to the team’s moral and made them confident in their ability as a group. The teams leading scores have been Justin Peirce, Andrew Fish, Connor Ojerholm, Nate Mansour, Connor Jesson and Trevor Manyak. With a deep bench filled with talented players, the boys team was able to spend the beginning of the season undefeated, climbing to a record of 7 – 0 before suffering their first loss to the Marlboro Panthers, 40-45 .

That loss did not stop the chieftains and Nashoba is the number one seed heading into the playoffs, giving them a bye for the first round. Milford beat Marlboro in the preliminary round, earning the chance to face off at Nashoba.

The Nashoba students section, dressed all in white, filled up the bleachers on Thursday, rattling the travelling Milford team with raucous cheers.  The team put forth a strong defensive effort and the mighty Chieftains were ahead at the half 15-10. Coming to finish their work the boys put the pedal to the metal and drove right into Scarlet Hawks net. Justin Peirce lead the team with 19 points in a blow out victory over Milford, winning 48-24.

This victory assures that the boys will move on to the semi- finals, playing in a game on Tuesday March 7th at 7:30 at WPI. They will play Concord Carlisle, the number four seed, in a repeat of last year, when the Chieftains to them in the semi finals. This year, however, through the strong play of the team and support of the student section, things will be different.
