Massachusetts has huge venues that draw artists from all over the world. Recently is also not an exception, with multiple bands and stars deciding to pop their heads into the east coast whether that be in our state or those closely around.
Starting with the more hip-hop side of this year, older artists such as the Wu-Tang Clan, De La Soul, and Public Enemy will be performing all at different venues and times. The Wu-Tang however, are going on their last tour and are going to play at TD Garden with Run the Jewels where they will be playing popular songs from their two albums 36 Chambers and Wu-Tang Forever. New rappers will also be showing their faces, with MIKE and Boldy James both coming up to Boston to perform. While Boldy James is mostly only known for his collaboration with The Alchemist, MIKE remains a rising star in the underground alt rap scene. The largest anticipation however, goes to the upcoming July concert for Tyler the Creator on his Chromakopia world tour. Already sold out within the first month, fans were teased with the rapper’s presence during a Converse pop up concert in October of 2024.
There are also several contenders lined up in the Rock genre. Playing at the Citizens House of Blues Boston are ska and ska punk bands Fishbone, Suicide Machines, and Bite me Bambi. Following that there’s post grunge classics Three Days Grace and Chevelle playing separately.
This is a big year for Massachusetts metal fans, as big names like Pantera and Lamb of God are performing in the state. Killswitch Engage is also playing at the same venue as Pantera, but not on the same date as they’re playing with other metalcore bands. A major anticipated event however, is the 25th anniversary of the album L.D 50 by Mudvayne and their corresponding tour. Mudvayne will be playing with Static X across the country and decided to leave a spot for the MGM Music Hall at Fenway. Along with those nu metal bands, Linkin Park with a fresh new singer (who is under serious controversy) is performing at the TD Garden. Death metal bands Fulci and Obituary are playing at the Palladium in Worcester at different times. Obituary is celebrating the 35th anniversary of their gold album Cause of Death.
Older concerts have come and gone, with the most prominent being Kendrick Lamar performing just recently on May 12 at Gillette Stadium. He is touring with another superstar, SZA, and they shook the ground causing fans to never forget their night out.
