I am sure we are exhausted from school and are extremely antsy for the upcoming break. I often enjoy the first day of break by relaxing and unwinding from the week before. After that stress ends, I end up wanting to do exciting things. So check out some of these ideas to help you pass this well-needed break.
There is the classic age-old sleepover that’s always a fan favorite. Find some friends, get some pizzas, chips and soda, while turning on the TV. There’s a wide array of good, classic old movies. Some movies I know I want to see include Peabody and Sherman. This is always a good giggle and it is a heartwarming movie that’s great if little siblings decide to crash. For some more action-filled and exciting movies, look at one of the many Indiana Jones or James Bond movies. When with any group, Disney always hits. Romantic films can include Lady and the Tramp and Wall-E; those always pull my heartstrings. Some good classics include UP and Toy Story. While I love these picks, and they are great if you are out of ideas, choose any movie you want, whatever floats your boat.
Have a fun day at Kimballs. The Westford Kimballs has some great activities to enjoy. You may catch me doing the pitch and putt after getting myself an ice cream to celebrate the warmer weather.
This last weekend, a friend and I went to Boston. If you want to enjoy the city but are scared of the drivers’ aggression, take the train. Find your nearest station and get a $10 weekend pass, allowing you to go to any stop all weekend. I ended up at the North Station and went to the Ice Cream museum, shopped around, and got some amazing Italian food in the North End. If you want a good place to go, check out Giaccamo’s and afterwards walk down the street to Modern Pastry or Mike’s Pastry.
I know that for some this time of year is the big rush of touring colleges. Even if you aren’t a junior, look and see if some of your local colleges have open days to tour. It’s always good to get a head start on future plans. Open spots for tours fill up fast during vacation weeks so get online now.
This break I hope to be able to work out. While I love going to the gym it’s not a great choice for those with busy schedules. To start getting active for free I like going on youtube and doing yoga to target specific muscle groups. Go for a run and enjoy the fresh air. Cardio is also great and does not require weights; there are lots of workout routines that you can find for free. I know I like my plank circuits and pushups and are perfect options for those looking to get a good workout without needing any equipment. Try going for a drive by yourself or with a friend. Play some tunes, have a picnic, and end up in some cool places. Drive to the ocean and take a walk, or find yourself a nice shopping spot on a main street. I love going shopping and finding an activity to do in the moment such as mini golf, seeing animals in a pet store, or going to an aquarium/museum. I love making a day of looking at art at a museum and I have taken pics of the art to use as inspiration when painting.
Ride a bike to get from place to place, and maybe end up at a library so you can sit down and enjoy a book. I like seeing if I can finish a book in one sitting before the library closes so I don’t have to check it out.
Bake some cookies or try a new recipe for dinner, and have friends and family over to enjoy your meal. Afterwards, play a board game to end the night. Card games are also fun and a great way to pass the time if you are just learning the game. I love Gin Rummy and playing cribbage, so if you need a new card game to check out, either one of these is a great option.
Happy April break, everyone!
