If you need something to watch you have come to the right place. These shows will keep you interested and on the edge of your seat. I have collected three series of mysteries, two of them are thrillers, one is a crime. I am personally an avid fan of Stranger Things, and these T.V. shows have done a phenomenal job of holding me over until the next season of this world renowned show comes out. Please welcome School Spirits, The Society, and Fool Me Once, to the stage.

School Spirits

Madison is trapped in the high school where she can’t be seen or heard. She is stuck with other spirits who died at the high school. Like the other spirits she cannot leave the school grounds. Stuck in the afterlife, she investigates her mysterious disappearance, possibly her own murder. Her body is nowhere to be found. The closer Maddie gets to the truth, she uncovers more lies and secrets. Maddie’s best friend Simon, is the only living person who can see and talk to her. Simon helps Maddie uncover her mystery. One of the spirits, Mr. Martin, leads an “afterlife support group” to help the spirits move on, but even he hides his own secrets.

• The first episode of this series aired in March of 2023. Season two coming out February 2025.

• Interestingly enough, this was filmed close to home. Lancaster was the primary filming location for this show.

West Ham is just as normal as anywhere else, except for a weird smell that lingers in the town. Parents of high school students, send their kids on a camping trip to get them out of the town because they want to remove the smell. The camping trip ends before the students even get there due to a storm, and they return to their hometown, but no one is there. The buses drop the students off and leave before any questions can be asked. The entire population is gone except for them. There is no way for the teens to contact anyone other than the group of high school students that are there. The students find that there is no way out of their town, all of the roads are covered in forest. There is nothing out there for miles. The students have no idea if they will ever be in contact with the world again. They have to figure out how to run their new society, using their resources appropriately and how to live without any outside help or knowledge.

• The first episode of this show aired in May of 2019. It was supposed to be a continued series, but season two filming was cancelled due to Covid 19. This is very upsetting due to a major plot twist at the end.

Fool Me Once

Former military pilot, Maya Stern is struggling to come to terms with the murder of her husband, Joe, after the murder of her sister a few months earlier. When Maya sees Joe on a nanny cam that watches over her daughter everything takes a turn. A deadly conspiracy from Joe’s past is brought to light. Detective Sergeant Sami Kierce is put on Maya’s case. Kierce, constrained by his own secrets, doesn’t know who he can trust. Meanwhile, Maya’s niece and nephew are trying to solve the murder of their mother. The two cases have many buried secrets that will soon be uncovered. Detective Kierce wants to know, how is everything connected?

• This one season phenomenon aired in January of 2024. There is no cliff hanger for this one, all of the hidden deep and twisted secrets are all revealed by the end.
