The upcoming MLB baseball season means the start of the 24’ Spring Training where we get to see some exciting upcoming superstars and prospects. For those who do not know what Spring training is, it is a series of games and practices where players can prepare for the upcoming season. This allows us to see some young prospects get to play with long-time professionals, along with getting to see some interesting matchups. Warm weather, good food, and baseball- you can’t get much better than that. So if you haven’t had a chance try to check out some of these games before they are gone.
A hot upcoming prospect is 2022 first-overall pick Jackson Holiday, who tore it up last year and has continued in spring training. At 20 Holiday is the MLB pipeline’s number one prospect. Showing great talent with great 5 tool play, he is a spectacle to see him play and get a great start to his MLB career. Last year he spent the whole season in the minor leagues going all the way from rookie play to Triple-A, so I expect big things out of him this season. Hopefully, he will be able to break into the major leagues this year. Just last week he had a monster day going 3-4 with a double and a triple. It is very impressive to have his composer at the plate.
Another incoming start is Wyatt Langford who was part of the 2023 draft class that was loaded with talent such as Dylan Crews and Paul Skenes, in which he was taken 4th overall. He is a prominent talent batting .360/.480/.677 with 10 home runs in 200 plate appearances. The Rangers have been very impressed with his performance so far, and coming off a World Series win the Rangers are looking forward to becoming league superpowers. With Adolis Garcia and Evan Carter in the outfield along with Langford, they will form a complete league takeover.
The Yankees this year had a huge off-season with the acquisition of Juan Soto and Marcus Stroman. Along with the recent resigning of Aaron Judge who was coming off a decent year last year, and his MVP season the year prior. With Soto’s bat and Stroman and the rest of the Yankees pitching staff they are going to be a hard opponent. The Dodgers this offseason had the highest paying offseason in sports history paying over one billion dollars in the payroll of players. They now have a loaded lineup with Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yomamoto, Freddy Freeman, Mookie Betts, Clayton Kershaw, and a bunch of other superstar players. This upcoming season is looking to be a spectacular one and I hope that everyone is as excited as I am.
