The Holiday Season is here and it’s time to watch some Christmas movies. What are you watching?
One of the best Christmas movies follows a little boy with a big dream of waking up on Christmas morning and unwrapping the “Red Ryder Air Rifle.” That movie is A Christmas Story. This classic released in 1983 features an adorable cast and atmosphere that brings you back to your yearly childhood self who eagerly awaited for Christmas morning. A Christmas Story is a warm cozy Christmas film definitely worth watching, or rewatching, this Holiday Season.
Another great option is The Polar Express. Released in 2004, The Polar Express is all about the theme of believing. It follows a young boy whose faith in Santa Claus is diminishing. One night a magical train appears in front of his house and when he gets on, he is taken on an incredible adventure that tests the question: Do you believe in Christmas? The best parts of this movie are the breath-taking visuals, inspiring soundtrack, and loveable characters. The Polar Express is a modern-Christmas-classic.
Christmas movies can be very fun especially when they have a nice dark twist to them and A Christmas Carol (2009) does just that. Featuring the same animation style as The Polar Express, A Christmas Carol takes good ol’ Ebenezer Scrooge on a wild adventure through the past, present and future of Christmas. This movie features some very haunting imagery and sequences, great performances, and to top it all off with an incredible 1843 holiday setting. This version of A Christmas Carol is one that cannot be missed this Holiday season.
The best choice is by far National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. This movie was released in 1989 and was met with incredible reviews from fans and critics alike. Many people consider it their favorite Christmas movie and watch it every year. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation follows a family of four hosting their family Christmas get together as the father, Clark Griswold, struggles to keep things in line. Everything has to be perfect this Christmas but it is far from that. This movie does a great job of telling a family oriented Christmas story while balancing its slapstick comedy and hilarious characters.
These four movies are some of the best Christmas movies to watch during the Holiday season! What are your favorites?
